It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Stokes, who passed away peacefully on 31 July 2026, aged 72.

Joseph was the beloved partner of Alice, a much-loved stepfather to Majella and Anne-Noelle, and was devoted to David, whom he lovingly helped to rear. Predeceased by his beloved brothers John and Michael and grandson Joseph. He will also be sadly missed by his daughter Linda and her mother Rose, his sister Margaret, his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces and extended family, neighbours, and friends.

Joseph will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and the love and support he gave to those closest to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Reposing at his residence (27 Beechpark West | N37 D9W8) on Tuesday from 12 noon until 8pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 10:30am in St. Mary’s Church, Athlone (N37 XP66) followed by burial afterwards in Cornamagh Cemetery.
