Pat Cooney

Peacefully, after a short illness, with family at the Hermitage Clinic on December 6, 2025; pre-deceased by his wife Bridie (nee McMenamin). Deeply regretted by his sons Mark, Michael & Edward; daughter Catherine; grandchildren Eva, Gemma, Carla, Alice and Bridget; son-in-law Kilian Plunkett, daughters-in-law Anne and Stefana, sisters Agnes Cooney and Gemma Rowley; pre-deceased by sisters Mary Cooney and Christine Cooney, and brothers John, Garrett, and Fintan. Greatly missed by his brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, many friends and kind neighbours.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been donated to Medical Science.

An opportunity to express condolences to the family will be available at Flynn’s Funeral Home, The Strand, Athlone (N37 WY17) on Wednesday, 10th December from 4pm to 7pm.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Athlone (N37 XP66) on Thursday, 11th December at 10:30am.
